Global Operations Leadership Development (GOLD)

A dynamic 2-year programme where you’ll experience 3 x 8 month rotations within our Johnson and Johnson business segments. Ideal for high-potential graduates with an interest in exploring multi-functional assignments within Engineering, Operations and Quality and who have exceptional drive and determination to succeed.

Engineering Development Programme (EDP)

A world-class manufacturing and engineering environment, with exciting innovations in technology and automation for engineers.

Research & Development Programme (RDP)

Designing and developing our core diabetes testing products, offering opportunities for engineers to work with current, new and projected technologies.

 

Johnson and Johnson - Global Operations Leadership Programme

The Programme

The Johnson and Johnson Global Operations Leadership Development programme is a dynamic, two-year rotational programme for high-potential candidates around the world who have exceptional drive and determination to succeed in the Engineering, Operations and Quality areas.

Joining this programme will provide you with a unique opportunity to build truly global networks during three 8-month long job rotations, within the Consumer, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Devices and Diagnostics business segments. As a trainee, you will participate in focused classroom development training where you will learn new leadership and technical skills which, combined with the opportunity to apply this business knowledge in a challenging manufacturing environment, makes this opportunity one which will take you and your career further.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will assume a position in Engineering, Operations or Quality within the Johnson and Johnson family of companies.

The Individual

To be considered for this programme you must have:

• A bachelor’s/master’s degree in an Engineering discipline

• A minimum academic result of 2:1

• Proven ability in managing and motivating people

• Excellent Team Skills

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills and technical aptitude

• Geographic and cultural flexibility

• Willingness to relocate within Europe

• Permanent European Union work permit

LifeScan Scotland ~ Engineering Development Programme (EDP)

The Programme

The LifeScan Scotland Engineering Development Programme is a dynamic, two-year rotational programme for candidates who have the desire and drive to operate within the LifeScan franchise. You will be working in the Engineering groups, guiding products from beginning through to large-scale production, improving and enhancing manufacturing process equipment. The programme aims to deliver a rounded Engineer capable of working both in a medical device company and high volume manufacturing company.

Joining this programme will provide you with the opportunity to build a network throughout the franchise during 5-7 month long job rotations. These rotations will base themselves within the sub departments of the Operations Engineering Team and the Quality Engineering Team. There will also be a 3 month rotation working within the Manufacturing Team giving insight into the operation of a 24/7 production department.

By the end of the programme you will either have or be able to: -

• Drive Equipment, Process, Product and System improvements

• Utilise formal problem solving tools and methodologies to actively lean out and improve processes, improve products, raw materials and reduce customer complaints

• Reduce the cost of quality and non-compliance to the business

• Reduce the risk to the Diabetic through risk analysis and risk management

• Work in a number of functional areas whether in machine design, improvement and maintenance or quality.

During the course of the programme you will have the opportunity to develop yourself and your skill set through Continued Professional Development through the use of internal Johnson and Johnson courses and selected external courses providing internationally recognised qualifications.

Graduates are also encouraged to enter a Professional Development scheme, leading to corporate membership of an Institution and registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer. The company has an active programme through the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’, using their Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS), a quality controlled route for the Initial Professional Development of young engineers.

As a graduate trainee, you will participate in training where you will learn new leadership and technical skills, which will be combined with the opportunity to apply this business knowledge in a challenging manufacturing and development environment. This is an opportunity that will take you and your career further.

Lifescan Scotland ~ Research & Development Programme (RDP)

The Programme

The LifeScan Scotland Graduate Development Programme is a dynamic, two-year rotational programme for candidates who have the desire and drive to operate within the LifeScan franchise. You will be working in Research and Development, designing cutting-edge new technologies from Concepts to Development. The programme aims to deliver a rounded Engineer/Scientist capable of working both in a medical device company and high volume manufacturing company.

Joining this programme will provide you with the opportunity to build a network throughout the franchise, which may involve several job rotations. These rotations will primarily base themselves within the sub departments of Research and Development but include Development Quality, Clinical, Marketing and the Operations Engineering Team. 

By the end of the programme you will either have or be able to: -

   • Drive Design, Process, Product and System improvements

   • Improve current products, designs and processes

   • Reduce the risk to the Diabetic through risk analysis and risk management.

    • Work in a number of Research and Development functional areas (including Meter and Strip Development, Concept Development, Clinical Affairs, etc) and support areas (including Quality, Operations, etc)

During the course of the programme you will have the opportunity to develop yourself and your skill set through Continued Professional Development through the use of internal Johnson & Johnson courses and selected external courses providing internationally recognised qualifications.
